Today at your arrival at Paro International Airport you will be met by your tour executive and after a short introductory briefing you will be transferred to the hotel. Rest day at leisure. (Optional program can be discussed with your guide)

Campsite Elevation: 3500m

Today you will drive to Ta Dzong (National Museum) where your trekking journey begins. On your first day you will climb uphill for 3280ft/ 1000m to your campsite just below the Jeli Dzong overlooking Paro Valley lies at an altitude of 11480ft/3500m. This remote dzong was built in fifteen century and house a 4m statue of Sakyamuni, located high on the ridge with superb view of the valley below and on a clear day the view of Mt. Jomolhari (7326m) and other Himalayan peaks can be visible. The trek takes you passing through farmhouse, settlement and apple orchids and then gradually ascends up a steep ridge through blue pine and fir forest. Once after reaching the ridge you will descent further 100m down to the campsite below the dzong.

Campsite Elevation: 3750m

Today your trail leads you through thick alpine forest and dwarf rhododendrons trees and as you continue your ascent through the ridge and on a clear day the valley offers with superb mountain vistas and valley dotted with monasteries and temple. The stunning view of the Mt. Jichu Drakey(6794m) and Mt. Jomolhari (7326m) and the surrounding high mountains can be seen from the trail. The Himalayan Monal Peasent can also be seen as you journey further. Your campsite is located at an altitude of 12,300ft/3750m near the yak herder’s camp.

Campsite Elevation: 3880m

The trail follows the ridge to a saddle at an altitude of 4040m promises a good view of Mt. Jomolari(7326m) and Mt. Jichu Drakey(6794m). As your trail continues and finally drops a bit and then follow the ridge back to Jangchu La Pass at an altitude of 4180m and finally you will be ending up on a shore of a scintillating lake – Jigme Lang Tsho (Sand Ox Lake) at an altitude of 12694ft/3750m. Your campsite is much closer to Jigme Lang Tsho which is known for its giant size trout.

Campsite Elevation: 3700m

Your trail traverse through dwarf rhododendron trees and you then pass through Jana tsho (lake). On the way you may come across yaks and yak herders camps where you will get an opportunity to encounter with the nomadic people and their life and after crossing the yak herders camp you wil be encountering with a short trail ascend up and then steep descent to the Simkota Tsho (lake) which is also known for the trout. Your campsite is close to the lake at an altitude of 13448ft/4100m. This campsite is your highest camping point on this trek.

Your day begins with a gradual ascend to a saddle at 4180m and then to the Phume La Pass (4210m), reaching the top you will be greeted with the adorning colorful prayer flags surrounding the pass. If the weather permits you will have another view of Mt. Gangkar Puensum (7541m) and other Himalayan peaks from here. From the top your trail takes you downhill passing the first monastery in Phajoding the Thuji Drak Goempa which is one of the well known meditation center hanging on the side of the precipitous rock face. Continue further descend downhill passing several monasteries in this area and finally you will land up to your campsite near by Phajoding Gompa at an altitude of 3870m. You will have a good valley view of the capital city from here.

Today your trail leads you all the way
downhill till the main road where your vehicle will pick you up. The downhill
trails takes you through blue pine forest and good valley view of Thimphu and
it take around three hours till the main road and from there you are collected
by your transportation and transferred you to the hotel. Rest day at leisure.

We recommend an early start – After an early breakfast in the hotel, check out and drive to Paro which take as hour drive. Its now time for you to embark on your somewhat arduous adventure for the day – the famous Tiger” Nest situated at an altitude of 3000ft/915m from the valley and 9700ft/2950m from the sea level, it is one of the most spectacularly located monastery in Bhutan. This monastery was built in 1694 and you need to keep in mind that the trail to the Tiger’s Nest is quite an uphill task and it takes nearly around three hours, at an average walk. This is a place which you will find worth sweating for.

 

After your morning breakfast in the hotel you will be transferred to Paro airport for your onward journey.
